# Getting paid

> What a licensed session pays, the setup bonus, when payouts go out, and the payout methods.

Most sessions don't become environments, but a good number do, and each one that does typically pays you $100 to $500. Everything you are owed shows on your [account page](https://payback.sh/account), with the next payout date.

## The setup bonus

A \$20 setup bonus is paid with your first payout once all three are true:

1. **Open-source sessions in review.** The past sessions setup found on your open-source repositories were uploaded for review. If setup had none to offer, three sessions in (synced or uploaded) count instead.
2. **Passive income on for all your open-source repos.** The `public` policy is on (or every open-source repository setup found is named on your list), with hooks installed and not paused on a machine of your account.
3. **Use your coding agent in one of them.** One session synced through the hooks, which is how we know they work.

`payback status` and your account page show the three as a checklist while the bonus is open.

## Payouts

Payouts go out on the 1st of each month and cover everything owed by the 25th of the month before.

**Stripe (bank)**

Set it up on the account page or with `payback payouts`. Stripe collects your identity and bank details on its own pages; we never see them.

**PayPal or Wise**

Where Stripe can't pay out, choose PayPal or Wise on the account page. Both need your legal name and country, used only to pay you and for our payment records.

**GitHub Sponsors**

Have us sponsor a GitHub account instead, such as your own project. Set the account on the account page.
