# payback update

> Update the payback CLI to the latest release.

## Usage

Downloads the newest build, verifies its checksum, installs it next to the current version and switches over atomically, so a hook running mid-update never sees a half-installed binary. The previous version is kept for rollback. The background uploader does the same on its own when a newer release is advertised, so you rarely need to run this.
